I’m working on a little series — or I seem to be, anyway — of what I’m now calling “gossamer girls.” They’re kind of light, see-through, floaty, and they make me happy to work on, which I desperately need these days.
This was the first one using the idea.
These are all 8″ x 10″ and when I scan them, I have to shrink ’em down, so the background on this one looks a bit pixelated. The texture you see on the dress is really there, but the background is a little pixelated. Is that even the word I mean? Ach, who knows? The hair scanned a little “hotter” than it is in person, but there you have it. I’ll get better at scanning these. One hopes.
This is paper, acrylic, watercolor, and clay.
Tropical and punchy–I’ll bet she’s got a little bit of sass. That’s an interesting mix of media you’ve got going on there.
Wow! What part is clay? I can’t even tell. The colors are so dramtic. I love her!
MM — The flowers on her headdress are clay — they stick out. Well, there are paper flowers and then there are smaller, orangey ones on top. Those are the ones I’m talking about. It doesn’t necessarily show from the scan, but the piece is dimensional. (Gah, that sounds so pretentious.) Those flowers didn’t scan very clearly, probably because they stick out, but, yeah, those are molded clay. They look better in person. The whole piece scanned kinda hot, actually, but, oh, well. Whatevs. Figuring out the scanning thing on these.
I picture myself on a boat on a river, with tangerine trees and marmalade skies… And then there’s the gossamer girl…
These are simply gorgeous. They make me happy too! God love you, tracey.
I am really enjoying seeing your work! They’re bright, cheerful and fun.
I haven’t anything other to say than that i think it’s lovely, so…
It’s lovely!
NF — My paintings are giving you acid flashbacks! ACK! Hahahahahaha!
Thanks, you guys.
You’re so good at eyes. These eyes are different from the other eyes you’ve done – they belong to her.
Gorgeous – I love all the layers and textures and the color is so rich. Wow!
Hi Tracey,
I really do like this gossamer girl and I’m going to click over to see the other. I also read with amazement the bad autie story. Now I must go see if I have that very same big fairy tale book. I don’t remember the story but the book you describes would match one of mine.
Thank you for your e-mail. I will be answering your questions later today. I really must do a little desk work today. Really must.
