  1. “After a bit he becomes bored and comes over and starts watching me work. He just stands there looking over my shoulder. Practice for the future I guess.”

    OMG this is SO TRUE.

  2. I’m baffled by his outburst… on SOOOO many levels. First, bothering your FUTURE employees while they work is WORSE than David Brent and Michael Scott combined!

Second, I can’t think of a better way to create disharmony in the work place than to discuss (as a future boss, no less!) politics and religion… well, maybe, saying that NASCAR isn’t a REAL sport in a Southern factory or office (Boy, I learned THAT the hard way!)

Next, while red and white are HUGE colors in Christian symbolism, blue is not so much represented, definitely less so than purple, green and gold/yellow … The only symbols/logos/coat or arms for a Christian religion that uses ONLY red, white and blue is the Presbyterian Church USA and the Episcopal Church as far as I know (BOTH started in the US)

Finally, when schmo told future boss that his tongue was MOSTLY red but a little white and blue, and thought that it was a USA flag reference, The vexillologist in me decided to do a little research. Stand by for the geekiness:

There are 69 national flags that contain red, white AND blue.

The Christian flag is red, white and blue. Perhaps that was what he was talking about?

  4. Whoops, didn’t finish…

Of these 17 have either black, green and yellow in them…

And 10 are territories or former territories that have coat of arms with other colors

That means that there of 42 national flags that have only red, white and blue ONLY.

Of these 42 national flags, 11 have LESS THAN 1/3 of the flag that is red, not even a plurality of red color

That leaves 31 countries, of which 14 had about 1/3 to 1/2 of the color red… a plurality, but not a majority

This leaves 16 flags, and once we eliminate all the flags but are “MOSTLY red” we arrive at the final picks:

Liberia, Myanmar, Taiwan and North Korea… hmmmm

  5. That was hilarious. And insane. Maybe it was a red-state, blue-state thing as well? Man, say a couple rosaries for future boss.

I bookmarked this blog. Not just because it’s funny but also because it will keep me from missing my corporate job, permanently.

JFH’s mad stats analysis is truly amazing.

  6. Hi Tracey. Thanks for the link – you picked my favorite story thus far. I hope to continue to post more as the insanity continues.
