This sailor will be awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously in a ceremony on April 8. He’s buried at Fort Rosecrans here in San Diego across the bay from SEAL headquarters on Coronado Island.
I think I want to go visit him and pay my respects.
Amazing story of a true hero.
Thank you for your service and your sacrifice, Michael Monsoor.
An amazing story of an amazing man. His award citation reads like a Hollywood script.
Thank you, Tracey, for putting this up.
P.S. Sailor, not soldier.
Cullen — Oops, you’re right! He was a Navy SEAL.
btw – I did take the time to read his story and ended up just sitting there crying at work. On the plus side – they’re kind of used to me getting weepy every now and then these days – you know, cause of that thing – so I think they assumed it was that.
It’s like I have a bizarre get out of jail free card for being emotional now. Wierd.
Anyway, it’s just amazing to me that anyone can be that brave and that selfless.
Marisa — I can’t even wrap my mind around what this young man did.
