Day … whatever. I think I missed a day here.
Random stars keep popping up in the Googling “It’s a Wonderful Life” experiment. Look at Lana Turner. Good Lord. She kinda sizzles. Although the curly fry bangs are cracking me up now that I look at it all again. If you have curly fry bangs and can still look HOT, you, my friend, are a star.
Lana Turner is one of my most favorite people EVER. She endured so much, she was a wonderful actress, and her private life was the stuff of legends. The picture is stunning.
Oh its nice to remember people that way: in black and white and highly stylized. Gorgeous.
Isn’t that amazing, RTG, what black and white photography can do — how it elevates everything, makes it almost iconic? I love it so much.
Hate to bring down the room… but I must share what I just found out about 2 months ago — all the old movie stars did not have great skin or fewer wrinkles. They were all retouched. I KNOW!!! Makes you want to CRY!!!
It’s the same process as airbrushing is now-a-days, it’s just done manually on the actual negative and is waaaaaay more painstaking. Joan Crawford almost always used the same photographer because he would spend 12 to 14 hours retouching her face to make it look like porcelain.
*WHINE!*
Wordgirl, I am not surprised to hear this. Even so, they are so much more glamorous than stars today. I LOVE that!
Oops, I hit submit beofer I finished my comment:
Maybe they are more glamorous because we don’t have have pictures of their, uhm, YOU KNOW, when they are getting out of a limo.
You can’t buy class.
Amen, Shannon.
