Holy moly! WordGirl got me hooked on this site. Go check out some of these before and after images and you will feel soooo much better about yourself. An excellent, timely reminder that — basically — everyone is ugly. Stars? Ugly. Models? Ugly. Cult followers? Ugly. Also: Embarrassing.
Click on “portfolio” and then “before and after.” BUT be sure to click on the “composite/manipulation” link, too.
My favs — The one with Tom Cruise. I kept clicking before/after–before/after, watched his hairline, and giggled with glee.
Oh, and the one with “Desperate Housewives.” How many actresses were calling their publicists after THAT one? Um, 4?
Biggest freak-out? The one with — well, I think that’s Christina Aguilera, but she looks so coked up in that photo, it’s hard to tell. I don’t want to give it away, but ack! ACK! And I kept clicking on it, too!
See? NO one is actually good looking which is why we need God.
He’s got some ‘splaining to do.
HAAAA! *giggle* Thanks!
Oh my goodness. I always thought it was mostly the skill of the photographer. But really it is the skill of the Photoshop user. After a Photoshop job, even I would look awesome! Someone should invent sunglasses where you could see what the world looks like after it’s been cleaned up with digital imaging software!
Anita — Yes.
“I’ll take the actual rose-colored glasses, please.”
I spent a good hour and a half there yesterday after seeing WG’s post.
I agree that the Tom Cruise one is very funny.
My favorite is probably the Billy Bob Thornton one because I actually like the before picture better than the after.
Wow! Do I feel better! I always marveled at the perfect skin. No I see no one has it!
See, Shannon??
Yeah, Cullen. Billy Bob’s after one is just too perfect.
Agreed, Cullen. In fact, to me the odd flaws give the character back to a lot of these airbrushed bodies. I’d rather see real people. To me there’s beauty in the untouched pics beyond mere aesthetics – beauty in the realism of the subject that touchups bleach out.
And by the way – where the blazes is this technology for our driver’s license photos?!?
That really is amazing. The thing is we all know down deep that nobody could possibly look as good as people do in magazines but we can’t help but believe our eyes. thanks
