Random Thoughts has a touching post about her new church experience.
So many people seem to be feeling similar things about “The Church” these days.
Not Jesus.
“The Church.”
We all long to feel a part of something, but when that something beats you down and just doesn’t care, what do you do? Where do you go?
Oh, man. . . I don’t think it’s easy anywhere, but I feel for you ladies. You are seeking the Lord with sincere hearts and there’s so much needless (worldly, sometimes banal) stuff in the way.
Maybe I can’t help direct you where to go, but I can encourage you to keep going. Please don’t give up. I’ll keep you in my prayers.
Kate P — Thanks, hon.
Thank you Kate, and a hug for you, Tracey. I’ve been reading your blog for about two years now, and empathize with you on many things. You nailed it when you said “the Church” is the problem. Not Jesus, but “the Church.” I don’t want to say “His Church,” because it’s really not. If it was, neither of us would be so wounded and disillusioned.
Amen Ladies. We’re having much the same issues here. Our church was so good when we first moved out here. It was indeed a Godly church. Sadly, our Pastor retired, and the elders picked a new one by making sure the vote was taken when those of us opposed were out of town.
The Church is now so focused on building membership (revenue) that it is uncomfortable to attend. Unfortunately, we live in such a small town, the only other option is to travel 45 minutes each way.
There seems to be a distinct lack of Christ in Church these days.
