Is it wrong to put Kahlua in your New Year’s Day …. uh, protein smoothie?
It’s a PROTEIN smoothie, Trace. Like healthy and whatnot. What is your problem?
Maybe 2010 will be the year I kick the drunken binges to the curb. Wouldn’t it be nice have less drunk blogging around here?
But Happy New Year to all of you from this drunken slattern!!!
I am all for coffee flavor in a smoothie! Happy New Year! (You little drunken slattern!)
I believe Kahlua is fine as long as every other beverage is tempered with equal parts Baileys.
Knock yerself out, hon. As long as you don’t need it to get through the day, of course. If that’s the case, then a month of rehab at the SYC might be called for. Jayne and SarahK and I will dry you out.
My mom and I tried a new recipe this year where we put Kahlua on popcorn…
Kate P — Oh no. It was actual Kahlua.
GraD — We should all become drunks just so we can have an SYC rehab. TOTALLY worth it.
Katie — And??? Don’t leave me hanging!! Was it good? Recipe, please, I beg you.
Yeah, it’s pretty good. Ended up being like cracker jack or…what’s the name of that other stuff? Anyway…my mom thought it was a little too sweet, but you can see what you think – it’s pretty easy:
2 quarts of popped corn (we have an air popper, and this was like 7 tablespoons of unpopped corn)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup Kahlua
2 T. cider vinegar
3 T. butter
3/4 cup cashews
Keep the popped corn warm in low oven. Bring sugar, Kahlua, and vinegar to boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add butter. Insert candy thermometer, bring to “hard crack” stage (300 degrees). Pour over the pocorn, stir to coat evenly, add nuts. ‘Tis delicious!
Hey, I didn’t say I discriminate whence this coffee flavor comes. . . 😉
(That recipe does sound delicious, Katie!)
Katie, that sounds heavenly. ‘Hard Crack’ might be an appropriate name for the final product. And hey, no pipe burns!
Enjoy your kahlua protein smoothie, tracey, and best wishes to you and yours in the new decade
