christmas question of the day 11 + 12

Putting two together, or I won’t get them done. All right. I heard one of these questions on the radio. I liked it, so here it is:

Is there something you want for Christmas — under $250 — that you won’t tell anyone you want? If so, why won’t you tell?

For instance, on the show, a pastor called up, said he wants a bottle of wine, but he works with recovering alcoholics, so he won’t say that’s what he wants! I can’t believe that! Tell SOMEONE, man! Maybe NOT the alcoholics, but SOMEONE!

Whew. All right, Tracey, calm down.

Next question. LAST question:

If you could be someone in the story of Jesus’ birth, who would you want to be and why?

  1. Let’s see… nothing under $250 that I know of. I get yelled at for not asking for anything. I tell my wife not to bother with me, I’m happy and we don’t need to spend the cash. Now I can think of a couple of things OVER $250 I’d like!

Who would I want to be? I’d have to say Joseph because the Maji and the shepherds left. Joseph was still around. Oh sure, Mary was too, but I don’t have the girlish figure… 😉

  2. I’d ask for some new wood blocks and to get all the carving tools sharpened. Why I won’t? I love carving, but it is so completely absorbing that I made a vow to not start it again until all the kids had left home. I’ve substituted another love – knitting – until then.

I’d like to be a shepherd, because they were humble and the first to hear the good news. (Us Catholics shy away from imagining ourselves as either St. Joseph or the B.V.M.!)

  3. There are a number of things I’d want for $250 or less. I guess I can tell you guys, because there’s no way any of you could actually get them for me. But I won’t.
I would most like to be Joseph also, just because….man. A front-row seat to the life of Jesus. No offense meant, Sal.

  4. I can’t think of anything that I want.

The person that I would like to be in the Christmas story is one who isn’t mentioned, a servant girl at the inn, who probably helped Mary and Joseph settle in. She may have even run for the midwife.
