In the news today ….
“The U.S. government on Monday issued a warning against any nonessential travel to Mexico, considered the epicenter of the outbreak.”
Oh, say it isn’t so!
What about the trip to Tijuana I’d planned for this weekend chock full of vigorous activities such as avoiding being stalked and avoiding being kidnapped and avoiding being ransomed and avoiding being shot or tortured or beheaded?
Drat it all, anyway.
I was all set to go get an illegal sketchy liposuction done this weekend … and now I’ll have to cancel.
Bummer.
Yeah, and I had a shopping list from all of my friends about those pills you can get OTC there that you need a script for here.
Hang it all; there goes my second source of income.
You guys have much loftier ambitions. I just wanted to get me a bag of those bolillos (they’re rolls) they sell, 20 for a buck or whatever, down in TJ.
They’re good, but not, you know, BEHEADING good.
Hey, when it comes to TJ, one man’s “nonessential” is another man’s. . . um. . .
Actually, it is pretty bad in Mexico City. My aunt was told not to come in to work until May 6. She’s supposed to come here for a visit the week after that, and I’m not sure that’s gonna happen now. This is nuts.
Oh, Kate P, it’s really bad in TJ. Seriously. We have two friends who live a little south of there — they moved there because it’s so stinkin’ cheap — and one of them has since moved back to SD and the other is considering it, after he got shaken down by the TJ cops recently. He’s got a wife and two little kids. Yikes.
Several years ago, a the father of a student of mine was murdered by some drug lords down there. So, yeah, it’s bad. Gotten much worse.
That’s horrible. I hate to generalize but from what my relatives tell me, Mexico is just so corrupt and a mess. My relatives want to move back to the U.S., only it’s going to be incredibly expensive and all their stuff will get stolen in transit.
