without thinking

Okay. I’m feeling really assy about the post below. I’ll leave it up, but I should have thought better of it. I’m being a big ol’ baby and, in the end, it’s none of my business. Sorry, everyone. Weak moment.

  1. It’s not “assy” to post your feelings your own blog, IMO. “Assy” would have been if you’d made your post into a sign and stuck it on their front lawn. I hear that Kinko’s does some amazing things.

  2. I assume you’re talking about the post about the password, and not the password-protected post?

If you are talking about the post about the password, I don’t see it as “assy” at all. I view a blog as being kind of like inviting people into one’s living room. When I have friends over, I don’t think it’s being “assy” of me to ask them not to smoke, or not to juggle my collection of cut-glass candlesticks. And I don’t think it would be assy of me to ask them to leave if they started a huge political argument that got ugly.

Your house, your rules. I know some people hate that phrase but it kind of makes sense to me. We are GUESTS here. And if we can’t behave graciously – well, that reflects badly on us, not on you. We shouldn’t have to make you reiterate the normal rules of conduct to us.

Of course, if it’s about the password-protected post (which I haven’t read, mainly because I’ve felt a wee bit conflicted about asking for the password – like, this is really private stuff, maybe I shouldn’t be seeing it), then carry on and just ignore me….

  3. I don’t think you’re being assy, either Tracey!

Although KateP’s comment made me laugh out loud:

//“Assy” would have been if you’d made your post into a sign and stuck it on their front lawn. //

hahahaha Now I’m just trying to picture that blog-post as a big huge sign stuck on their front lawn.

  4. Kate P — Hmmmmmm ….. don’t tempt me ….

ricki — Actually, I am talking about the password-protected post, I’m sorry! And, girl, I gotta tell you: I think pretty much everyone has the password. I won’t push it on you, but I would be totally FINE with you having it. You could catch up on all the posts I wrote about WHY there is now a password for some posts. Juicy stuff. Ohhhh, yeah. 😉

  5. I emailed you to request the password today.

Not sure if your spam catcher will weed it out or not but my e-mail is the “Mail” address I use on comments, but with the nospam. taken out.

  6. I read the post and I still don’t think it’s assy. Maybe it’s not something I’d want to broadcast to family members – but it’s your opinion and you have a right to it.

(and for the record, I agree with your sentiments expressed in the post.)

  7. Sometimes you have to have an outlet for these kinds of things!!! At least, you know with us that it won’t be making it back to the family 🙂
