Everyone is just stunned about this, obviously.

So so sad.

My personal favorite Whitney Houston song. Ah, the ease and purity and power of her voice. One of a kind. (The key change from 3:40 to about 3:46 gives me goosebumps every time. Her face is so cute there too, like, “Here it comes, people.” Love it.) She never looked more gorgeous, if you ask me.

“I don’t want to hurt anymore.”

I hope you’re not hurting anymore, Whitney Houston. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with us.

  1. It’s a kick in the heart. I’ve heard details that actually scare me on a personal level I’m not at liberty to talk about.

Right now I’m watching a retrospective on her career on ABC, along with “news” updates of freaking helicopters following her hearse down the NJ Turnpike to the funeral home in Newark, near to where she grew up. It gives me the not-entirely-unreasonable desire to shoot down the vultures. Don’t even get me started on the hordes shouting questions at Bobby Brown as he walks down the street… or the exclusive “scoops” talking with this or that person who “knew her” or “her tragic final moments” or the whole sorry spectacle of turning the family’s mourning into a ratings circus.

    Everything about this just stinks.

  2. Superbowl XXV National Anthem took my breath away; best ever… (And if I hear one more “yeah but” about the POSSIBLE prerecording of singing I’m gonna, ahh, I’m not going to do anything, because people like that are never gonna “get” her talent)

  3. I always loved “One Moment in Time”–from the Olympics. Her voice made that song; I don’t think anyone else could have sung it the same way. I feel sad for her family.
