uhm, you didn’t pray hard enough

UGH! The perpetual angst of being a Chargers’ fan! We win — what? — 11 in a row and then in our first playoff game, we play our WORST game of the season.

Our field goal kicker, one of the most consistent legs in the game, missed 3 field goals. We get personal foul after personal foul for unsportsmanlike conduct and whatnot. Stuff we NEVER get. Crazy. Stupid.

Final score: NY Jets 17, SD Chargers 14.

Coulda used those 3 field goals, couldn’t we?

We always choke in the post-season.

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

And now we will not speak of the Chargers for the next 9 months.

  1. Awwww, I’m sorry. We here in the Philly know the heartbreak well and can sympathize.

(At least your team didn’t lose to the same team twice in a row. SOUNDLY. BOTH TIMES. Stupid Birds.)

  2. We need the SYC now more than ever — so we can commiserate over our STUPID TEAMS. AHHHHH!

Jeannine — Hey! Hi! Are you back to blogging again? I hope?

GraD — Yes. Let us not speak of these nameless teams again until September.

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

  3. Cullen — You know, Drew Brees is a former Charger and I always felt he got the shaft here, so, yes, I’m now totally rooting for the Saints.

But I like Favre too. Looks like I’ll be rooting NFC this year.

  4. Well, at least the Chargers made a good showing. There was all this hype about my Cowboys, then they were soundly spanked 34-3. Oh, the shame of it all. The commentators were arguing over the last Favre touchdown…whether it was “running up the score” and being “mean”. Oh brother…Now if the score had been 54-3, I might say you’re just showing off, but ONE extra touchdown at the last….WHATEVER! The Cowboys fumbled twice and Romo threw an interception….we STUNK, pure and simple….I too will have to root for the Vikings now, cause I think Favre is hot…spoiled, but hot.

  5. Gee, I wish the Giants could have choked in a playoff game…

You know your season went badly at the end when the Onion makes fun of you – they ran an item titled “Furious Coughlin Scores Two Touchdowns During Post-Game Tirade.”

“We just couldn’t stop coach,” said Justin Tuck. “Nobody was willing to stick their nose in there. At the end we looked up and he was yelling at us in the end zone.”

During the postgame show, announcer Bob Papa also scored a touchdown against the Giants.

Yeah, I still kind of had to laugh…

  6. Rob — I’m happy to hear that. I really am. I hope he goes all the way. If my Chargers can’t, I’m rooting for Drew.

ann — Favre IS hot, true dat. 😉 You know, I hate to anger any NY Jets fans here, but they didn’t really deserve to win that game. I mean, the Chargers beat themselves. We beat OURSELVES. UGHHHHHHH!!
