Either a dolphin or a giant octopus. I would go for the smarter sea creature and those are supposed to be two of the more intelligent. Besides, it seems like it would be fun to be a dolphin.

Peanut butter sandwich. I didn’t like the cafeteria lunches.

I nicked the back of my ankle the other night shaving my legs.

I’d like to say walking but I don’t live close enough to a grocery store so I’d starve so I’ll have to say car. Or maybe a Vespa.

I don’t go out to the movies any more; too many bad experiences with rude people. I don’t remember.

Probably the standard poodle except when people do those ridiculous show-cuts to them. But I also like some of the “weird” breeds like that one that looks like a sheep.

5. Last book you read? I can’t remember any I’ve actually finished, but the last one from which I just read several chapters was What Works in Schools by Robert J. Marzano. It was nice to read that not all schools are failures and there are ways to analyze them to determine the contributing factors and figure out a plan of action for any school or classroom.
6. Describe your favorite school lunch when you were a kid. Well, we didn’t have an actual cafeteria, so usually I brown-bagged it, but every Wednesday we had “hot†lunches. Hot Dog Day made me pretty happy. As a clam.
7. Describe the last time you were injured. My cat jumped on my shoulders and accidentally scratched my left shoulder. (She needs her claws trimmed. It’s a two-person job so I have to make arrangements.)

11. What kind of shampoo? More weirdness: I’ve had “hair issues†for a few years now (I think the ex-roommate put a hex on me) and still haven’t found one that takes care of everything, so usually I alternate a clarifying one with either DevaCurl Low-Poo or Ojon Hydrating Thickening.
12. Bath or shower? Most days, shower. Baths are good at the end of a bad day.
13. If you could only use one form of transportation for the rest of your life what would it be? I wouldn’t mind the train.

I think we’d get something smaller though, maybe a Welsh Corgi, which is a good compromise between large and small (they are the smallest working breed, as I recall).

6. Describe your favorite school lunch when you were a kid. Well if it was cafeteria food, I loved hamburger day. It was really the only decent thing they made. If is was a sack lunch, (which I almost NEVER got, only if there was a field trip or something, so my mom always made it special) I usually had a pepperoni & cheese sandwich, cheetos, some Hostess dessert thing (a Twinkie or Ding Dong) and the famed can of soda wrapped in tin foil. I loved field trips as much for the special lunch as the being out of school!
7. Describe the last time you were injured. I slipped off a curb a few years ago and severely sprained my ankle. I was in a boot for six weeks, limped around for another six months, and finally had surgery to fix the damage to the joint.

True story: MB and I were at an animal shelter years ago, looking around. There was a dog there that was part German Shepherd and part Corgi — basically, picture a German Shepherd body and head with little Corgi legs and that is EXACTLY what this dog looked like. It was so weird.
MM — The jalapeno/cheese bagel is the King of the Bagels. And wait. I just went back and reread your answers. Your mom would make you pepperoni and cheese sandwiches?? Holy moly, you just made me so happy. I never knew such a thing existed. Could you grill them like grilled cheese?? Guess what we’re having for dinner!? Well, I didn’t think *you* would judge me, T–but yeah, go see it. Really anybody regardless of what side of the argument he or she falls on (and for me I don’t know if I go for either side completely) would find it a good movie, I think.
Sam2 — I LOVE Great Danes! There was a regular customer at Boheme who would come with his Great Danes, Buster and Simba, and sit out on the sidewalk. One of those dogs was always sitting in his lap. All 150 pounds or whatever. Such big drooling babies. I loved them.
Tracey, I am howling at the picture of a German Sheperd with little stubbly Corbi legs. Just dying. And yes, they are the Queen Elizabeth dogs, the orange ones with no tail (though there is a variety that is darker brown, and does have tails). They’re sort of medium-small (20 pounds or so), active, and quite clever. One of our bridesmaids has a friend whose Corgi likes to herd people at parties – they find themselves all standing in one corner of the room while Jake watches them from the hallway.
Maggie, I forget where you are in the world, but if you have a Le Peep near you, the skillets are da bomb. (A million percent yes! Blazing!)

An electric eel. With all that electricity shooting through me, I might not notice when I have seizures. That’d be cool.

Well. I was trying to open a bottle of wine, and I pinched my thumb HARD in the corkscrew. It bled in a little circle and hurt like the dickens. I whimpered a lot. And previous to that, it was the big toe incident.

A deep and serious question- seeing as how there are only about what? 12? 15? stories in the world, has anyone else gotten tired of reading b/c you know where the story is going?
Nowadays, it takes someone telling the story in an awfully good or novel way to catch and keep my attention.
Ditto modern movies.

MM — You know how you butter the outside of the bread for a grilled cheese? What if — for your pepperoni grilled cheese — you buttered it, then sprinkled Parmesan on the buttered part, THEN grilled it? I’ve done this before with regular grilled cheese. It’s YUM.

Sal, I thought the book was okay. I mean, I cried and all at the end, but it seemed a little, oh, I don’t know, TELEGRAPHED. There was really no other way it could’ve ended, was there?
And could the writer have used MORE florid language? It seemed like sometimes she just vomited up the thesaurus onto the page.

I, too, have seen a shepherd/corgi mix. Strangest dog I’ve ever seen. Looked like a shepherd dwarf.
Sven — You had rolls with honey butter?? Get out!! That is amazing. I’m completely jealous.
sheila — MB was obsessed with ham as a kid. (Uhm, still is, much to my non-ham-making chagrin.) As the legend goes, at a long ago party, little MB was placed in his high chair near the sliced ham. Later, he was caught with fistfuls of ham, devouring them like a monster and crying, “DELICIOUS!”
One of his first words, actually.
When he was removed from the ham area, he had a complete fit. Started screaming, “HAAAAAAAM! HAAAAAAM!” and banging his hands down on his high chair table.
This is still pretty much what happens whenever he has ham.
Olga — I can still picture that dog. He was all catawumpus. Poor thing.
